  Fishing for carp, catfish, and carp, for many people may be commonplace. However, at Monstero Pond, in the East Rim area, Sidoarjo, fishing enthusiasts are offered a different fishing sensation.

In this fishing pond, anglers will feel the strong pull of monster fish, such as genghis khan (freshwater shark), spatula (alligator fish), redtail catfish (giant catfish), and others.

"Strike!" shouted Arie Yunanto (33) when his hook caught a monster fish. It took 10 minutes for this private employee of the IT department in Sidoarjo to lift a 5 kg red belly pacu (a type of pomfret).

After the fish was caught, Arie did not give up the opportunity to take pictures, showing off happily on his social media account.

"It takes extra energy when fishing here. Just 5 kg is tiring, let alone 40 kg. But this is very fun," said Arie to Surya, Wednesday (30/12/2015).

For Arie, fishing for monster fish requires extra physical strength. Even the bait used is different from tilapia fishing.

"If you're feeling stressed at work, getting a monster fish strike here makes you relieved," he continued.

In another corner, Andy Halim (40) also got a strike. This entrepreneur from Surabaya has succeeded in raising the aggressive genghis khan fish. Unmitigated, weighing up to 11 kg.

About 20 minutes, Andy, who came with his family, was only able to lift the freshwater shark.

"The fish run around and become entangled in other people's fishing line. The pull is strong, but the sensation is steady," added Andy.

At first, Andy only fished standard size fish, such as milkfish, mujaird and others. However, once he tried the ferocious pull of the monster fish, he became addicted.

"This is the second time I come and the sensation is always astonishing. I come with my family on vacation," he said.

Supervisor for Monstero Pond, Imam Supandi, explained that this special monster fishing pond was built on the idea of ​​a Sidoarjo pond entrepreneur named Eddy in 2013.

Then, his son-in-law, Hendri Andrianto, took over the management and became the only monster fishing pond in East Java.

"The pool is designed differently and there are special rules for fishing here,"

Imam explained that the owner, Hendri, designed this fishing pond like a lake habitat in Vietnam. The edge of the pond covering an area of ​​8,000 square meters is fortified by river stones for the habitat of small fish, a source of food for these predatory fish.

"Our owners really want to offer a different fishing sensation. Instead of fishing for monster fish in the sea, it costs a lot of money and takes a long time, people can feel attracting monster fish enough in our pond," he explained.

General Manager of Monstero Pond, M Komari, added that to fish for monster fish, it is necessary to use a standard specification sea fish fishing rod, with PE 2.5 strings and 3,000 reel. Below that, it's likely that the fishing rod will break or the strings break.

Komari revealed that there are 18 types of monster fish in this pond. The largest is the redtail catfish weighing 40 kg, which is imported directly from America.

To fish here, visitors pay a 4 hour or full day package, IDR 150,000 or IDR 200,000. If successful in lifting the fish, the fish is released back into the pond.

"There are special rules, the hooks should not have hooks and the bait should not use essence (smell booster)," said Komari.

On average in a week there are 200 anglers from various regions who try their luck against these monster fish. Some are successful, many are not.

In order to get no monster fish, his party also provides a standard fishing pond containing tilapia, carp, and others.

"There is a separate technique to be able to attract the attention of monster fish. Must be fishermen who already have high flying hours," he said.
